The City of Richmond has completed Phase 1 of the South St and Thornton St improvements. The project will include widening the intersection on South St and the installation of a rock retaining wall and sidewalk addition. The second phase rock retaining wall installation will begin soon. With the sidewalk and intersection widening phase following.
This project will improve safety and ease of travel through the South St and Thornton St intersection. The failing railroad tie retaining wall was in desperate need of repair and the new rock wall will provide for a permanent and aesthetically pleasing replacement. The sidewalk addition will improve connectivity and safety for pedestrians, especially children traveling to and from the Richmond school complex.
Please use caution while traveling through this area as we complete this project. If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at 816-776-5304.
