DESCRIPTION: The City of Richmond is accepting applications for a Fire Engineer/EMT with our Fire Department. Qualified applicants must be highly motivated, energetic professionals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: fire suppression activities, performs emergency rescue activities, provides emergency medical care, response to hazardous materials incidents, operations of associated equipment and apparatus; participate in training activities to maintain and improve the level of fire suppression and emergency medical skills, inspects and maintains equipment, performs preplans and fire inspections, and involvement in fire preventions programs
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 18 years of age; High School graduate or equivalent; possess a valid Missouri Driver’s License with no restrictions; a driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behavior; applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of a Firefighter/EMT; and must live within 15 minutes response time or willing to relocate during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Missouri State Certified Firefighter I & II
• Missouri State Certified in Hazardous Materials Response
• State Certified and Licensed Emergency Medical Technician

DESCRIPTION:
The City of Richmond is accepting applications for Wastewater Plant Operator in Public Works. This position is responsible for the operation of the wastewater treatment plant, laboratory, and disposal of sludge in accordance with MDNR. This position operates a major wastewater treatment facility to treat sewage and to ensure customers are provide with proper waste disposal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates the wastewater treatment plant including related subsystems and instrumentation. Monitors the treatment process from the control boards/computer screens, physical monitors various treatment processes. Monitors wastewater effluent by performing laboratory tests at various stages in the treatment process including tests for fecal coliform, odors, and other tests as necessary to ensure MDNR wastewater quality standards are met, calibrates laboratory equipment; maintains laboratory records. Reads gauges and meters; interprets data to maintain the proper treatment process, proper distribution operation, security, and alarm status. May operate or perform as crew member on wastewater jetter system as required to clean collection system. These are only “examples” of work duties, employee will be expected and required to perform other job-related duties as assigned by their supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Successful applicant must have a High School diploma. Must possess a valid Missouri Driver’s License with no restrictions. Experience in wastewater treatment is preferred.

This is a full-time non-exempt position and eligible for overtime; salary ranges $40, 518.40-$61,235.20; based on experience and qualifications. DESCRIPTION: The City of Richmond is accepting applications for a Permit and Compliance Technician. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in construction who thrives in a dynamic, field-intensive environment. The incumbent will perform varied and complex work to ensure the successful and efficient operation of the City’s development functions, with a significant portion of the work conducted outdoors at various project sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities involve reviewing, processing, and distributing applications, plans, and permits. A critical aspect of this role is the ability to understand construction plans and blueprints to ensure all submitted documents are accurate and complete, adhering to city requirements and building codes. You will be responsible for explaining complex requirements and codes to applicants and providing expert assistance to the Community Development Director.
A key aspect of the role includes overseeing the enforcement of permits, codes, regulations, and ordinances within the City, which encompasses issuing citations when necessary. This requires conducting thorough investigations and on-site inspections of both commercial and residential properties. You’ll need a solid understanding of construction practices and the ability to identify potential code violations in the field.
Strong computer skills are essential for this position, as you will be responsible for conducting thorough research into codes, regulations, and property histories. Involvement in appeal hearings related to hazardous properties is a key responsibility. Furthermore, the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, along with effectively communicating ideas, is crucial for this role.
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate must hold a High School diploma, with demonstrated experience in construction or a related field strongly preferred. A comprehensive understanding of construction plans, building codes, and effective research methods is essential. Proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, data entry, and basic mathematics is required. Additionally, strong interpersonal skills are necessary for fostering and maintaining effective and appropriate relationships with customers, colleagues, and representatives from other agencies. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to uphold confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries.

DESCRIPTION: The City of Richmond is accepting applications for Maintenance Worker in Public Works. This position is responsible for maintenance of the streets, water distribution and wastewater collection systems, and facilities. Under direct supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled in the inspection, maintenance, repair, and construction of City facilities, buildings, and infrastructure. Drives and operates several types of vehicles, small to medium duty equipment, and occasionally heavy-equipment related to completing the task assigned. Employee may serve as a lead worker on small, task-based crew.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist’s other workers, and independently performs a variety of inspection, maintenance, repair, and construction related tasks on infrastructure components, including; buildings, streets, sidewalks, gutters, storm drainage, right-of-ways, and other City owned property. May form and pour concrete; May operate a variety of hand tools, equipment. Machinery, and vehicles, including; concrete saw, trencher, roller, backhoe, front-end loader, tractors, mowers, air compressor, pick-up, and dump truck. Will service street lighting, maintain street signage, and paint street markings. May provide snow and ice removal, and sand/salt streets during inclement weather events; and may operate the street-sweeper. Employee is expected to share in the “on-call” responsibilities and respond to after-hour emergencies. Will perform minor maintenance to equipment and vehicles, including; operational checks, fluid level inspections, and maintain cleanliness. These are only “examples” of work duties, employee will be expected and required to perform other job-related duties as assigned by their supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Employee shall have above-average knowledge of the methods, practices, and standards for the maintenance and repair of facilities and infrastructure inspection, maintenance and construction. Must have mechanical and technical aptitude and the knowledge of the proper tool and equipment use; Capable of learning operation and light maintenance of equipment and vehicles used in performance of job duties; must have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving history, and access to personal transportation; Must be able to clearly communicate in written and verbal format with co-workers, supervisor, and the public, and be able to follow oral and written directions.
SALARY: This is a full time non-exempt position and eligible for overtime; a monthly salary $2,885-$3,740. Benefits package includes paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System (LAGERS), medical, dental, vision and life insurance. Available voluntary benefits include Aflac supplemental insurance, 457(b) retirement plan, term life insurance, and flexible spending accounts (FSA) for medical expenses and dependent care.
