Compost Site

Address: 9060 Wellington Street

The site is available to City of Richmond residents every year on the first Saturday in April and remains open until 3:00 p.m. on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  A Public Works staff member will be on site to verify proof of residency.  Compost Cards are attached to the bottom of the Ray County Real Estate Paid Tax Receipt. This card must be presented to gain entry to the compost site. Named card holder must be the one to present card when dropping compost off. If you misplace your receipt a duplicate can be purchased from the Ray County Collector for $1.00.

The site is only open on Saturdays, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All rules and regulations must be followed at all times. No commercial dumping is allowed at the site. Open burning is not allowed within the City. Please get ride of your brush by bringing it to the City of Richmond Compost Site.

  • Tree Limbs under 6 inch diameter and 4 feet length
  • Vegetation
  • Grass Clippings
  • Straw/Hay
  • Leaves
  • Paper/Compostable Bags

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED

  • Plastic Trash Bags
  • Lumber
  • Metal
  • Tires
  • Trash
