The City of Richmond is pleased to announce that it was awarded funding through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Scrap Tire Surface Material Grant Program to purchase park amenities made from recycled Missouri scrap tires.
The new amenities are now installed or in the final stages of installation and are available for residents and visitors to enjoy. The project enhances Richmond’s parks by providing durable, low-maintenance seating while supporting environmentally responsible recycling efforts.
Funding for the project is provided through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Scrap Tire Surface Material Grant Program, which is supported by the state’s scrap tire fee. The program encourages the development of markets for recycled tire materials by funding projects that incorporate products made with at least 40 percent Missouri-generated scrap tires. Eligible projects include walking trails, playground surfacing, benches, picnic tables, and other molded products.
The City appreciates the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for investing in communities through this program and is excited to have the new amenities for residents and visitors to enjoy. The new benches and picnic tables will provide seating and gathering spaces while showcasing how recycled materials can be transformed into practical, attractive improvements for public spaces.
A special thank you to all staff members for helping make this happen for our community!
