Let’s get fired up! In the City’s efforts to promote Richmond and focus on beautification, ideas for banners and signage around town are strategies of the plan. But with Spartan Homecoming just around the corner, a new idea was formed.
The City of Richmond recently partnered with the Richmond R-XVI School District to work together to promote Richmond pride. The first item on the agenda was painting Spartan heads on South Street in front of the High School. City staff and Richmond R-XVI school staff worked together to develop a plan to make this idea a reality. With the schools sophisticated new laser cutter, the templates for the Spartans were designed and cut at the school. The Richmond Police Department organized a plan for traffic control during the painting. Since South Street is owned and maintained by the City, the Public Works department provided the asphalt paint for the Spartan heads. And who better than the Spartan football team to paint the Spartan head mascots on the street in front of their home field.
“We are excited about working with the School to promote Richmond pride”, says City Administrator Tonya Willim. “Not only will this effort promote pride throughout our community, it will also show visitors that we are proud of our school and of our town. The school is the heart of the Community and we look forward to building on this partnership.”
The City is continually improving and focusing on marketing and beautification efforts. Our goal is to continue to make Richmond a great place to live, work and play!
