Great Connections!

What a great connection from north to south!  That will become truth when the new sidewalk is completed that will parallel Highway 13 through Richmond.  Phase 2 is now under construction from Main Street to Harvest Hills Villas along the west side of the highway.  Then walkers and runners will be able to travel safely from Walmart on the south to Harvest Hills Villas on the north, and so many things in between, plus connect with the east/west sidewalks, including to the high school and middle school.  The sidewalk will give access to schools, banks, retail stores (including our new ones), medical facilities, convenience stores, gas stations, restaurants, retirement community, a church and soon a grocery.

New SidewalksA real highlight is that the new section will  have a crossover into the shaded  trail in our new Hamann Park at Spartan and Crispin Streets, also giving access to play areas, restrooms, and restful benches.

This dream for a sidewalk began a few years ago, with the first section from Main Street to Walmart being paid for by a MODOT grant.  This last half will be funded by a combination of grant funds again from MODOT and funds from Richmond’s transportation and park taxes.  Sidewalks are a great benefit to residents and tourists of all ages, as well as an attractive quality of life asset for businesses looking to come to Richmond.

Let’s all MAKE IT RICHMOND!
