Leaks and Adjustments

Sewer usage is based on water usage on City utility bills. Customers who use more water than normal during the summer months can apply for a sewer adjustment each year in September. Customers who have had a water leak should notify City Hall to request a sewer adjustment.

Summer Sewer Adjustment:
Customers who water lawns frequently, fill a swimming pool, or otherwise use more water than normal during the summer months may benefit from the City’s summer sewer adjustment program. In September each year, residential sewer customer living in an individually metered dwelling may apply to the City to have their sewer charges adjusted for the months of May through August. (Commercial customers may use this program for watering purposes only). The adjustment will be based on the average amount of water used by the customer during the preceding October through February. This program is unavailable to customers who were not water customers of the City during the preceding period of October through February. Any adjustment refunds shall be applied as a credit on future utility bills. Customers can submit the application via Email, mail (205 S Summit St) or hand-deliver the application during September 15-30 to City Hall.

Water Leaks
Customers who experience a higher than usual usage amount may have a water leak. If usage has increased due to a water leak, customers are encouraged to contact City Hall and request an adjustment in their sewer usage.  Contact 816-776-5304 with any questions regarding usage amounts.
